Grand Rapids, Michigan-Week 3 of the NYBA Summer League delivered everything: playoff positioning, hard-fought battles, and two instant-classic overtime finishes. With momentum building and roles becoming defined, both divisions showed a clear commitment to growth — and to winning.
Frost 25, Nova 24 (OT)
An early candidate for Summer League Classic, this one needed extra time to settle.
- Fast Start: Donell Jones III (Nova) put on a first-half clinic, controlling the tempo and pouring in buckets to give Nova the lead.
- Comeback Mentality: For the second time in three weeks, Frost battled back late — this time sparked by collective defense and big-time execution.
- Clutch DNA: Klayton Holman sank two pressure-packed free throws to force OT, and LJ Wallace IV came up with a huge defensive stop and transition bucket in the fourth to tie it.
- The Comeback Kids? Frost is making a name for themselves in crunch time.
Shock 29, Ignite 28 (OT)
The gym was loud and locked in as Shock earned their first win in thrilling fashion.
- Scoring Barrage: Jayceon Moffet-Foster (Shock) dropped a Summer League-high 17 points, including 11 straight that had the gym buzzing.
- Shot of the Summer: Legend Williams (Ignite) forced overtime with a monster putback — an effort play that shook the building.
- Sealed It: Shock finished the job in OT, showing poise down the stretch.
Surge 33, Prime 22
A wire-to-wire team win that pushed Surge to a perfect 3–0 record heading into the tournament.
- Control Early: Surge took over in the third after Kyler Holman and Jacob Badger led a Prime mini-run mid 3rd quarter.
- Steady Finish: Nolan Aguilar, Remy Henry, and Rome Germain made key winning plays in the fourth, extending the lead and closing it out.
Storm 45, Phantom 26
Storm caught fire and never cooled off, finishing with their most dominant showing of the summer.
- Hot Hands: Storm made 10 of their first 15 shots, burying Phantom early while holding them to just 5-of-19 in return.
- Masterclass: Juelz Campbell was unstoppable, scoring 20 points and dishing out 6 assists in one of the top performances of the season.
- Two-Way Force: Zai Vaughn brought it on both ends, locking down on defense and hitting open 3s in transition.
- Energy Engine: Jevel Green was a force all night, bringing relentless energy and helping Storm sustain their early momentum.
