Grand Rapids, MI — The National Youth Basketball Academy (NYBA) is entering a pivotal stage of growth. To support its expansion, the organization has officially opened applications for State Director of Basketball Operations roles across the country.
NYBA is currently developing new programming in Arizona, California, North Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Washington. The organization is building a national infrastructure to deliver a grassroots academy model for athletes ages 7–14. By providing consistent, year-round programming, NYBA aims to support player development and help young athletes advance to higher levels of competition.
“Coaches and youth leaders play an essential role in our communities,” said Brandoen Guyton, NYBA’s National Director of Operations. “This position offers flexibility, but more importantly, it’s meaningful work. Those who dedicate their time and energy to developing young athletes deserve to be valued, supported, and fairly compensated.”
The State Director of Basketball Operations role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person responsibilities. Directors can also choose to coach or lead on-site programming. This hybrid role is ideal for individuals with experience in leadership, youth development, education, or community engagement.
Each State Director will manage local operations. Key duties include hiring coaches, coordinating gym space, building partnerships with schools, and maintaining communication with families and community stakeholders.
“This isn’t just about basketball,” Guyton continued. “It’s about investing in youth and investing in the sport. Over the past five years, we’ve focused on building real solutions. That work starts by elevating the game at the grassroots level. We believe our academy will make a meaningful impact across all levels of the sport.”
If you’re passionate about basketball, leadership, and youth development — and live in one of NYBA’s target states — this could be your opportunity to lead something bigger.
